2020-2021 Program: Virtual Little Opera at Grace

In this virtual online experience students will spend each session creating one act of a three act opera. This unique approach allows students to build the show one act at a time starting with Fall Session’s Act 1, Winter Session’s Act 2 and the Spring Session’s culmination of Act 3 and a live performance. Each session will begin with students bringing their imaginations to life through storytelling classes and ensemble building. Our teaching artists will then guide the students to write lyrics, compose music, and rehearse the piece through lessons in acting, singing, and choreography.

Students will receive an Opera Box at the start of each session with activities and tools to connect us as an ensembleall sharing the same experience from the comfort of our homes.  The virtual interface allows for individual coachings and skill building such as microphone work, lighting, set and costume design, and video editing. The final performance will include both a live performance, and a pre-recorded segment that students will have as a forever keepsake of their art.

No student is ever turned away for lack of funds. In order to ensure that Little Opera is accessible to all students, sliding scale tuition is available to all families on request. To apply or inquire, email Jenny Hanson.
